Persian macaroni
Persian macaroni for 4 people.
Ingredients
- 450g ground beef
- 400g spaghetti noodles
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric 1
- ½ teaspoon saffron- crushed in mortar with pestle
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 5 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 cups of water
Process
- Pour 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in the preheated skillet and then add chopped onions.
- Once the onion turns to light brown, add ground beef and mix it very well with onions.
- Add turmeric, salt and black pepper to the mixture and stir it.
- Add tomato paste and saffron and stir it until the whole mixture becomes red.
- Add 1/3 cup water and lower the heat and let cook until the water evaporated.
- In the meantime, add 3 cups of water with salt in a large pot to boil.
- Then add spaghetti noodles and 1 tablespoon oil to the pot for at least 10 minutes.
- Strain spaghetti and set aside.
- In a separate large pot, add 1 tablespoon oil, a bit of spaghetti and then a layer of ground beef.
- Keep layering until the meat and spaghetti are finished.
- Lower the heat and let it cook for 45 minutes.
Notes
- You may want to use mushroom and bell pepper.
- The spaghetti noodle is preferred but any kind of spaghetti including Penne and Fettuccine can be used.
